Identifiering av sjukdomsgener hos hundar med hjälp av helgenomsekvensering
The overall objective of the PhD project is to identify genetic risk factors for inherited diseases that negatively affect canine health. This will be done by developing a general framework for whole genome sequencing using next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies followed by bioinformatics evaluation and validation of causative mutations. A similar approach will be used to contribute to an increased understanding of complex disease. The results will be evaluated in terms of breeding advice, development of genetic tests as tools for clinical diagnoses and individualized treatments to improve canine health and welfare.

Kvalifikationer: An MSc degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required. We seek a highly motivated student with thorough education and strong interest in animal health and welfare, molecular genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and disease genetics.
Previous experience with next generation sequencing methods, bioinformatics, computer programming and statistics is advantageous. We are looking for individuals who can work independently but also as part of a team. Candidates must be fluent in English (orally and written).
