Mid Sweden University The Department of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics, Campus Sundsvall Invites applications for 1 Post-doctoral Research Fellow position (1+1 years), Ref.nr.MIUN 2010/2067 1 PhD-student position (2 + 2 years), Ref.nr.MIUN 2010/2068 in Water Chemistry The centre for Fibre Science and Communication Network (FSCN) (www.miun.se/fscn) at Mid Sweden University invites applications for positions in the area water chemistry.The successful candidates are expected to work on a project on the science and utilization of recoverable complexing agents for metal ion control in aqueous solutions.The project is a sub-project within FSCN?s program, FORE ?Forest as a Resource.Although the project aims at future industrial applications, we are interested in candidates who have a strong commitment to fundamental research.The candidates are expected to do experimental and theoretical work in the fields of surface chemistry, analytical chemistry and chemical engineering.Characterisation of physico-chemical properties of complexing agents, analysis of metal ion selectivity, flotation studies and electrochemical methodologies for recovery, are some examples of areas of research.An arsenal of advanced analytical instruments for different purposes is available at the department; NMR spectrometers equipped with different probes, e.g.for HR-MAS and self-diffusion studies, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, QCM-D, SEM, ESEM etc. Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, a list of publications (especially important for applicants to the post doc position), a short description of research interest and your long-term career goal, and contact information on two references whom we can contact.The applications should arrive in the following address no later than January 31, 2011: Registrator, Mid Sweden University, Holmgatan 10, SE-851 70, Sundsvall, Sweden.Marked with Ref.nr MIUN 2010/2067 or MIUN 2010/2068.
