And do you thrive in an environment where you are surrounded by a design team from all corners of the world? If so, Volvo Group Design is the place to be.
THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
Volvo Group Design is the design function for the Group’s brands and business areas. The team provides design to products, digital solutions and services from the three studios located in Gothenburg, Sweden, Lyon, France and Greensboro NC, US.
We are now looking for a Physical modeler to join our design team located in Lundby, Gothenburg.
Position Description
As a 3D printer specialist at Volvo Group Design, your main responsibility will be to secure all work around the 3D printed details and to make sure that all models are being printed accurately and on time. To achieve the expected result, you will also prepare the digital models before the actual print. In collaboration with the Physical modelers team, you should be able to decide which process matches best your tasks. You will transform 2D sketches and 3D scanned models into 3D physical models. The role requires you to be flexible and have a great sense of form to make sure that we always meet the intended design and the technical input.
In this role you are also expected to help the physical modelers team with various other tasks when needed. Tasks such as: verifying visual quality and numerical surfaces through developing 3D printed or 3D milled models, hands-on work in different materials such as clay, foam, wood and ureol etc., as well as creating aluminium constructions and building different rigs and mock-ups. Sometimes you might also help with the milling machine and prepare models for that. In this role it is important that you are a creative problem solver since you often have to experiment with different methods to come up with the most optimal result.
You will work closely with our designers as well as our technical colleagues to create 3D physical models to visualize the proposed appearance of the product and make sure that the models are in line with the dimensional and technical input.
You will also be involved in setting the right priorities and securing the right support as well as securing that physical work deliverables are organized and efficient. All this to make sure we keep the time plan and budget.
We offer you an interesting and very flexible role as a 3D printer specialist, where you will be able to further influence the way of working. At Volvo Group Design you will work with skilled and passionate colleagues in all areas of design to bring premium products to the market.
