Mälardalen University (MDH) announces four postdoc positions in Embedded Sensor Systems for Health. The School of Innovation, Design and Engineering (IDT) provides an international research-intensive environment with strong focus on Embedded Systems (ES). IDT is hosting a large number of national and international research projects, in many cases in close collaboration with industrial partners.
Embedded Sensor Systems for Health (ESS-H) is a new research profile at Mälardalen University targeting Embedded Sensor Systems for Health. ESS-H is financed by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation by 36 million SEK over 6 years. In ESS-H, researchers at MDH are working together with industrial partners, municipalities, and county councils with the aim to develop novel embedded sensor systems promoting health. The sensor systems will monitor health conditions and follow health trends of elderly at home, but also monitor drivers and machine operators with the aim to achieve a safer work environment.
The four postdocs will participate in the building of a large cross-subject research group with several senior researchers, with focus on systems-oriented research within the ESS-H research profile, in collaboration with industry and society, and in building and maintaining a large regional, national and international network. Cooperational abilities and experience of collaboration with industry and society is therefore important.
Active involvement in the development of the ESS-H environment as well as the entire ES research environment is expected.
Position description
Positions 1 and 2 - Biomedical Sensor Systems and Biomedical Signal Processing
These positions address two of the core areas of ESS-H, Biomedical Sensor Systems and Biomedical Signal Processing. A focus will be on designing systems for reliable acquisition of physiological parameters in home environment and biomedical signal processing of such signals (including artifact removal and signal restoration). Examples of signals of interest include ECG, respiratory parameters, and movement parameters.
Position 3 - Dependable Wireless Communication
This position addresses the ESS-H supporting technology area Dependable Wireless Communication, to some extent also the area Biomedical Sensor Systems. A focus will be on dependable communication for distributed sensor systems targeting health applications. One part of the work will concern dependable wireless communication, e.g. in harsh work environments. Another part will concern dependable and efficient transport, storage and retrieval of large amounts of physiological sensor data.
Position 4 - Software Testing
This position address Software Testing, with a special focus on the area of model-based testing of embedded software. Particular interest will be on testing of non-functional properties such as e.g., timing, resource consumption, and safety related aspects. The target systems will be complex software systems, including a number of sensors and hardware components, typically modeled in an architecture description language (ADL).
