About the team
In this role you will be working in a diverse Nordic- and Baltic environment filled with creative, competent, and nice colleagues. You will report to a UX chapter lead and will on a daily basis work closely with two teams. We strive to offer a flexibility of our work-life based on autonomy, but at the same time believe in face-to-face interaction to truly connect to each other and to develop ourselves and If.
If XD Community
You will spend your everyday with the teams, but besides that you will be a part of the If Experience Design Community, which consists of 55+ skilled and engaged Experience designers. We all work with the digital services and touchpoints for If customers. We are many designers in If and we think the best way to learn and improve is by sharing with one another - this is the backbone of our Experience Design Community.
About the role
As an Accessibility specialist you will be part of two cross-functional teams:
• The If Design System team which consists of designers and front-end developers who are focused on evolving our extensive design system that enables application teams to build consistent, accessible, maintainable, and on-brand design solutions. You will be supporting on creating the accessible design and components as well as accessibility documentation for design system.
• You will also belong to the Accessibility Core team where you will be a frontrunner and driver for increased knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility within If. You will be working together with a group of a Nordic-Baltic accessibility ambassadors driving accessibility initiatives throughout the organization e.g. creating accessibility strategies, supporting processes and evaluating the existing solutions and supporting development teams in making future solutions that adhere to accessibility criteria.
About you
We are looking for a passionate candidate that cares about accessibility and who's eager to drive change together with colleagues. You have several years of experience working within the accessibility area. You are a believer in cross functional collaboration and a preacher of accessibility. You are solution-oriented and find your ways in complex surroundings, as you know this is what it takes to take digital accessibility to the next level.
You are a positive team player who is a self-starter that operates well within a large organization, influencing and communicating with all levels of management and across design and technology teams.
You also have:
• Formal education within design or the human computer interaction spectrum or Universal Design
• Deep knowledge of Universal Design and Web Accessibility
• Deep understanding of accessibility legislations, policies, guidelines and WCAG criteria
• Strong understanding of accessibility testing methods, tools, WAI-ARIA and assistive technologies
• Experience with running state analysis and accessibility audit (confirmance evaluation) of both web and mobile applications
• Experience with coordinating with stakeholder on creating accessibility polices and routines for various functions such as product quality control, procurement, communication, publication, and recruitment.
• Experience from driving change, improving processes and ways of working.
• Ability to influence and partner across a large organization and drive change through promoting a culture of collaboration.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced agile digital environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, for presenting and facilitating trainings.
• Comfort in communicating in English (we work across the Nordics & Baltics)
• Possibility to travel when needed.
Extra plus for:
• Background within building accessible code
• Familiar with Figma and design systems
• CPWA certification from IAAP (or similar)
