Are you an experienced accounting assistant with skills in reporting financial information? We are looking for a professional and dynamic person with the ability to work on a variety of tasks. If you are organized, analytical and a team player, Take part!
You will join the Finance and administrative processes department (FAP) and more specifically the General Accounting section (GA) which is responsible for processing and controlling the accounting operations, recording assets and liabilities, preparing the financial statements of the Organization, and ensuring compliance with the CERN Financial Rules & Regulations and the IPSAS norms.
Functions
As our Accounting Assistant, you will be part of a team of 7 people and your scope of actions will require interactions with other CERN teams managing External Grants and CERN Knowledge Transfer, as well as with external stakeholders such as industries and academic partners.
You will:
- Perform financial follow-up for contracts dedicated to CERN Knowledge Transfer activities, such as collaboration and licensing contracts.
- Process book-keeping and book-closing operations related to EU (co-)funded projects and Knowledge Transfer activities, including regular analysis, controls and reporting activities.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure regular and effective communication with them.
- Perform other contract-related analysis and data entry activities undertaken by the team.
- Maintain documentation within the General Accounting section.
- Support administrative and office tasks in relation to preparation of official financial documents.
- Contribute to any additional accounting activities or projects related to the section's activities.
Qualifications
Technical certificate or general secondary education in the field of Accountancy or Finance or a related field.
Experience:
- Proven experience in accounting, in particular with accounts receivable, cash collection and revenue recognition, ideally obtained in a large company or in an international organization.
- Demonstrated experience in the reading and interpretation of a variety of contracts.
- Experience with international accounting standards IFRS and/or IPSAS is a plus.
- Experience in procedures documentation and office tasks would be an asset.

Language skills:
Spoken and written English or French: ability to understand and speak both languages in professional contexts as well as the ability to prepare/draft and/or translate accurate texts in both languages.

Employment Conditions
Contract type:
