As a VPS / Lean Manager you will lead the lean journey to create excellence in current and future operation, leading to Volvo Penta’s vision to become the world leader in sustainable power solutions.


Due to parental leave for 6 months, we are looking for you who are passionate about driving operational excellence through lean production and with proven experience of implementation and coaching of lean production, preferably VPS (Volvo Production System) and WCM (World Class Manufacturing). The function of Global Operations & Quality is proud to be producing and distributing top quality engines, drivelines, and accessories to most corners of the world, upholding the Volvo Penta brand and reputation. The Vara plant consists of 300 employees who all contribute to this process.


The role
In the role as VPS / Lean Manager you will lead the implementation, development, and execution of Volvo Production System (VPS) at Vara Operations towards VPS excellence. You will also be the facilitator and coordinator for the yearly strategic activities at the plant, both planning and follow up.


As a VPS / Lean Manager you are an important member of the plant management team where you actively work and contribute to the development and success of the whole site. You report directly to the plant manager.


To lead VPS at Vara Operations you will:
Set up VPS processes and systems in all functional areas at Vara Operations.
Plan all related activities in close cooperation with the plant management team and managers at the plant.
Follow up, assess, and challenge the managers and organization in the implementation of VPS as well as in set targets.
Be the source of Lean and VPS knowledge within the plant including motivating, supporting, and educating the organization in lean and VPS.
Actively participate and benchmark Lean and VPS within the Volvo Group internal and external networks.

In this role you will also have a global responsibility to lead and coach the implementation and development of Volvo Production system within Volvo Penta Global Operations and Quality. This includes leading the VPS network within Volvo Penta covering all Volvo Penta Production sites.


Who are you?
You hold a university degree in engineering, production, logistics or equivalent with specialization and performed training in Lean Production. You have work experience from similar positions in the manufacturing industry, preferably working with Volvo Production System (VPS) and WCM (World Class Manufacturing).


Competence requirements are:
Expert knowledge in Lean and Volvo Production System with own experience of implementation and practice of VPS.
Ability to coach and train in Volvo Production system and lean methodologies.
Experienced leader who knows how to encourage, motivate, and bring out the best in the organization through change management.
Proficiency in English and Swedish language. Excellent communication skills.
Customer orientation mindset.
Ability to see opportunities where others see obstacles and a desire to take on new challenges.
