The department of Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. Active Safety is an area where Volvo, through continuous launching of new and innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. Within the department we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensor systems based on sensor technologies such as Radar, Laser, Ultrasonic, Cameras and Accelerometers. Through Sensor Fusion, these sensors are combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used by various Driver Assist and Safety Functions to support the driver. The section Preventive Safety within Safety Electronics has the mission to develop the next generation active safety system. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System (VPDS).

We are now looking for a Radar Systems Engineer to strengthen our radar development team. Today's complex active safety system requires precise control based on data from different sensors. This requires detailed knowledge of how the sensors are integrated in the vehicle and how data is processed in real time in order to support the best possible end results from a customer function perspective. Your work will be supporting how the vehicles of today will evolve into the non-colliding vehicles of the future; covering safety rating, competitors, academics in the field of active safety. The role requires a demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge from the area to provide technical leadership to peers and assure the delivery of product programs. You have high level of communication and teamwork capability as well as experience to lead, teach, coach and mentor internal teams in the delivery of technical objectives. Main responsibilities

* Support the delivery of quality assured radar based sensing systems to our vehicle programs
* Secure technology development readiness for industrialisation projects
* Support the organisation in contacts with suppliers and proactively contact potential suppliers

Required qualifications

* Master of Science in Electrical Engineering /Computer Science /Physics or similar
* Demonstrated technical knowledge from radar design (HW/SW)
* Demonstrated technical knowledge from radar design (HW/SW) within automotive is meritorious
* Experience from Radar based system development
* In depth analytical skills
* Proficient in matlab
* Comprehensive experience from Research and development (Requirement/Methods, Concept development, Engineering or Analysis & Verification), Authorities and Industry
* Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing
