Polestar is blazing a new trail, dedicating ourselves to the development and refinement of electric vehicle performance. Your experience as a Sensor Engineer would be invaluable to us in our mission to grow in the areas of AD/ADAS.

As a premium brand within the automotive industry Polestar have high expectations on our AD/ADAS systems. Not just in terms of performance of the AD/ADAS features that must give the driver a seamless driving experience but also within the areas of design (interior/exterior design) and sustainability.

This position is based at our HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What you’ll do

Our AD/ADAS team is a part of Polestar Drive within our R&D department and is a team with a mission to deliver the next generation ADAS systems and the first-generation AD function. The team consists of a handful hand-picked engineers that cover Advanced Engineering, concept phase and production projects. You will be part of the core team and report directly to the AD/ADAS Team Manager.

You will be the go-to-expert for all kind of questions related to the AD/ADAS sensors.

As a Sensor Engineer within Polestar Drive you have a wide coverage of tasks by covering our AD and ADAS operations within the R&D department. As we are a small number of engineers who dedicate into AD/ADAS you need to be flexible and prepared to take-on all kind of tasks in the area of sensor related AD/ADAS. E.g projects within Advance Engineering and cooperation’s with start-ups but also support the ADAS development teams in their production projects.

Since the development of AD/ADAS sensor is rapidly changing you must enjoy searching for and adapting to new sensor technologies. You will belong to a department that have different disciplines and you are expected to support the rest of the org with competence in your specific area.

When it comes to sensor providers / suppliers your task will be to front them in several aspects like tech, commercial and contractual.

Your key objectives/responsibilities will be:

- Run Advance Engineering projects
- Keep track or ADAS/AD sensor tech
- Screen Competitors / market intelligence
- Keep track of Polestars sensors roadmap
- Visit sensor providers and keep track of their development / roadmap
- Be part of / give input to sourcing
- Scouting for new sensors technologies
- Sensor integration


Who you are

You have a strong will to create the future of electric vehicles - it’s probably fair to call you an EV nerd passionate about solving climate changes. You are enthusiastic, motivated, well-organized and driven. You’re not afraid to try new approaches and out of the box methods. You have a holistic view, including vision, business and customers. You are energized by working in a creative start-up environment, taking action where you see potential and creating structure where needed.

To be successful in this role, we believe you have:

- Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- More than 8 years of experience working with sensor technologies, preferably within automotive
- Have documented skills as sensor expert in one or several sensor technologies (Radar, Camera, USS, Lidar, GNSS)
- Domain knowledge within AD and ADAS systems
- Previous experience in SW architecture (the different SW layers and the structure)
- Automotive electrical architecture, including both;
- De-centralized (compute distributed over several ECUs)
- Centralized (central compute)




Desired skills, not a must:

- Network technologies (CAN, Flexray, LIN, Ethernet, LVDS..)
- ISO26262 - System Safety
- SAE levels L0-L5
