Head of Primary School

Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the role is to drive the teaching phase forward and train members of primary school (Förskoleklass - Year 3) on school culture and lesson quality at IES Södertälje in accordance with our school ethos and goals. Additionally, the Head of Primary School is responsible for the organisation of nationally required academics (e.g., Bedömningsstöd, National Tests, etc.)

The Head of Primary School is expected to:

1. Cooperate with the Junior Student Care Coordinator and Fritids Coordinator to ensure that pedagogical support is provided.
2. Attend Year Team meetings with Heads of Year in Primary and Junior School.
3. Plan Head of Year meeting discussions with Principal and Assistant Principals.
4. Cooperate with the Assistant Principal to ensure behavioural and academic routines are created and followed as they apply to Primary School.
5. Attend Student Care meetings for F-3.
6. Provide pedagogical support in primary school, where needed.
7. Support in training new or struggling staff.
8. Maintain cohesion between the Primary School and Junior School
9. Purchase materials or equipment needed in Primary School.
10. Cooperate with the Head of House coordinator to engage the Primary School students in the House System.
11. Attend the weekly Head of Department meetings with the Academic Manager.
