Advanced Engineering Leader - Air Induction System

Our section Air Induction System & Powertrain Mounts operates within the department Powertrain Installation. The section consists of around 50 persons and is divided into 3 groups. This position is within the Air Induction System, a group that consists of 15 men and women. We are of different ages, background and experience. The main purpose of the Air Induction is to clean and transport air to the combustion chamber within the ICE - Internal Combustion Engine. Other important attributes that have to be considered when designing the system is to reduce noise, inhibit snow and water intrusion and keep low pressure in the given design area. Our components are designed as Build to Print and we are developing dirty side ducts, air cleaners, clean side ducts and charge air ducts. We are now looking for an Advanced Engineering leader.
The Advanced Engineering (AE) leader is part of Volvo Car Groups product development process leader structure. This role is created to lead the technical development of a section and thereby strengthen Volvo Car Group´s competitiveness. The goal is to create a portfolio of technologies that meets future customer requirements, regulatory requirements, social trends, etc. The AE leader is responsible for leading the annual work and Advanced Engineering tasks. The AE leader operates both as leader and as executer and is responsible for the results.
Main responsibilities
* Lead and execute the annual work and AE process for Air Induction System
* Responsible for AE projects within the technical area
* Report project status to the department's annual- and AE responsible and to line manager
* Handle deviations of deliveries against the project plan
* Monitor other sections' AE assignments and judge how the section's technical area is affected
* Participate in benchmarking activities
* Monitor and follow up on that patents are applied for whenever possible
* Establish contact with suppliers and create common AE projects
* Work with governmental organisations, for example regarding co-financing
* Challenge existing technical solutions
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent based on work experience
* Good knowledge and at least 5 years' experience of product development, preferable within the automotive area
* Knowledge of managing and implementing projects
* Good understanding of product development
* Great interest in technology
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* Drivers´ license, B
* Experience from design of plastic components is meritorious
* Good practical and theoretical knowledge of the section's technology areas (systems, attributes and function areas) is also meritorious
