What’s in it for you?
We are looking for an Aerodynamicist for the Sustainability Centre at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg.
The department Sustainability Centre belongs to Complete Vehicle Engineering and is responsible for leading sustainability within Research and Development. Aerodynamics is one of several attributes within the department.
The Aerodynamics group within the Sustainability Centre is a part of the Complete Vehicle organization within R&D. At Aerodynamics, we work closely together with other engineering departments and Product Design to develop the vehicle exterior as well as components and systems in order to be leading in energy efficiency and achieve stable driving dynamics. Our assignment stretches from start-up of a product concepts to final validation, setting and confirming target fulfilment and product data. We are also involved in research and external collaborations together with national and international partners. There are two agile teams within the group: Aero Product Launch and Aero Development.
In this role, you will develop your engineering skills, skills in product development and attribute work and gain a network within the company.
What you’ll do
As Aerodynamicist, you will be involved in all phases of the design and development of our products, including the pre-study work for vehicle programs. You will collaborate with Product Design, Vehicle Energy Efficiency and other areas affecting Aerodynamics. You will work with improving our products, certification, setting data and be responsible for analysis work (physical and CAE).
You should be able to drive Aerodynamics in a typical vehicle program and you will contribute to more energy efficient movement of people and sustainability.
The role includes work tasks such as planning, preparing and performing CFD calculations and wind tunnel tests, develop new testing equipment and analysis methods, conduct analysis and create recommendations, contribute to the development of the group, and produce spoken and written presentations in various foras and systems.
You and your skills
We see that you have a university degree, at least M.Sc. or equivalent in engineering. You will also need high skills in fluid dynamics and a proven record of experience from that field, skills in CFD (e.g., STAR) and CAD geometry work (e.g. CATIA/ANSA) and experience from measurements. Furthermore, you will need a high level of communication skills, e.g., presentations etc. and be fluent in English (written and spoken). A European driver´s license (B) is also required.
Experience from working with aerodynamics in the automotive industry and experience from wind tunnel tests and development of measurement systems is meritorious.
On a personal level, you are a team-oriented person who exercise inclusiveness. You are performance driven with the ability to prioritise between different tasks and to keep deadlines. You also possess high integrity, professionalism, openness to change and a willingness to contribute to good working atmosphere as well as interest in developing our group and the teams in the group.
