The last years the International school of Älmhult has grown from a small school to a school with almost 500 students. The International School of Älmhult is a warm, friendly and welcoming school. We are truly international in many senses. There are 53 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. This year we can boast teachers coming from 34 different countries. WORK TASKS
As an afterschool teacher, you work with students between the ages of 6-12. Your responsibility is to ensure that children have a meaningful leisure time before, during and after school. This by creating and developing a safe and secure environment that attracts and challenges children to play and to learn.
To do so, you work together in a small team of 12 Fritids staff. As an after-school teacher you are responsible of planning for and working in after school activities, working as in-class support or student assistent in the classrooms. You will also plan for and take part in break activities, attend required meetings/educations and work interdisciplinary with staff at the school and other schools.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have an appropriate level of education (university or similar). You have a Bachelors degree in teaching, preferably after-school pedagogue, or appropriate level of education (university or similar) that the employer values equal. You are qualified to teach students age 6-12 and knowledgeable in after-school teaching.
You are able to take initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively in your classroom management and teaching-learning environment. As a teacher you communicate effectively and collaborate willingly with colleagues, students and parents. Collaboration is a key word in our school. You are open to express your ideas and information creatively, and in many ways in the classroom and with your colleagues. We know that you might not have all the answers, but are courageous to explore new roles, ideas and classroom strategies. Our school is multicultural, and you must have an interest in working in an international environment with different cultures.
Knowledge in the Swedish Fritids curriculum as well as the IB PYP curriculum is preferred, as well as experience in working at an International After School Programme.
