Role

We are seeking an experienced AI Team Lead to support AstraZeneca's ambition of putting AI at the heart of 80% of our business processes by 2025. You will be responsible for leading a team of AI engineers applying sophisticated quantitative expertise in advanced mathematical deliverables and developing innovative AI solutions that generate business and scientific insights. The role will oversee the development and delivery of reusable AI services that use innovative techniques to solve impactful business challenges. This will involve translating customer demand into actionable briefs and help to articulate customer benefits when securing their support. The ideal candidate will have experience working on end-to-end AI products, from ideation to production solutions and services. Experience developing AI in a regulatory or compliance setting is desirable with an appreciation for the documentation and diligence required to deliver ethical AI responsibly.You should have experience of developing and running machine learning models using cloud platforms and APIs and be familiar with the challenges of deploying web services for different audiences. Key Accountabilities

* Lead and inspire a team of AI Engineers based out of Sweden, developing innovative reusable AI services and assets, working in partnership with other AI leads spanning the domains of natural language processing, optimisation, time series analytics, information engineering, computer vision and new AI innovations
* Strategically influence and directly contribute/own our AI tooling strategy and roadmap, ensuring all Reusable AI engineers are using best in class and industry leading AI tooling across teams - Involving close collaboration with our AI Platform organisation.
* Build and manage a multi-functional portfolio of AI project deliverables, working to translate business gaps and requirements into hardened technical briefs that deliver value to AstraZeneca.
* Reusable software products deployed in impactful business processes with realised annualised $ value and time savings
* Responsible for ensuring project deliverables are clearly defined and delivered and manage partner expectation for associated risks and limitation of results.
* Oversee the researching and development of AI models and computational methods to guide and influence decision-making outcomes
* Software excellence - publications and conference communication, open-sourced repositories, technical workshops and educational sessions
* Training and developing junior colleagues in standard methodologies, software and modelling principles
* Develop effective relationships with senior partners to ensure utilization and value of analytical resources and services in multiple projects.

Requirements

To be successful in this role we see that you have experience managing teams of AI Engineers to deliver successful business outcomes. You have the ability to work with various senior business and technical partners, forging consensus and sponsorship towards team initiatives and innovations. A passion for advising on best in class and industry leading AI tooling and strengths and limitations within organisational constructs. You are an excellent communicator, skilled in business analysis as well as consultancy. We also see that you have:

* Bsc/MSc/Ph.D degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field
* Proven expertise and leadership in software development standard methodologies and principles (software architecting, linting, CI/DI, unit tests, OOP, Git)
* Experience leading and managing junior colleagues, delivering technical workshops and providing technical mentorship
* Significant experience in the modelling of complex datasets in applied business and/or scientific application domains, resulting in the development of pioneering AI algorithms and applications
* Advanced software development skills in at least two of the standard data science languages (such as R or Python) and familiarity with database systems (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, graph)
* Understanding of algorithm design, development, optimization, scaling and applications
* In-depth experience of manipulating and analysing large high dimensionality unstructured datasets, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across partners
* Experience building, managing and delivering against a multi-functional portfolio of customer demands and requirements
* Strong bias for action and results.
