Role Overview

The Airworthiness Assurance Leader reports to the Head of Airworthiness & Certification and has broad responsibility for the definition, management and execution of the aspects of the EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) “design orgnisation handbook” on behalf of the Head of Airworthiness in line with EASA Regulation IR 21.A.329(a). You will lead a small team of airworthiness assurance engineers interfacing with the Independent System Monitoring (ISM) function as well as working with engineering department certification specialists and company functions such as Manufacturing, Operations, Flight Test and Supply Chain Management to provide our DOA framework in an agile & efficient way to suit a small organization without compromising on the regulatory compliance.

You will be responsible for helping to create, implement and maintain the design & airworthiness procedures, process, instructions/methods and tools that will form our design organisation handbook, which in turn will allow us to obtain Subpart J DOA privileges from EASA essential to our success. As a team leader, you will also assist with organizing and hiring the certification team.

You will also represent the Head of Airworthiness at business reviews as well as customer/supplier meetings (pertaining to delegation & execution of Heart’s DOA privileges) and airworthiness/certification meetings with the authorities, ensuring the engineering methods fulfill the design assurance system needs of our design organization handbook. You will also manage the aspects relative to DOA scoring, airworthiness training materials and fees associated to the DOA/type certification procedures.
Qualifications & Experience

- Graduate degree in aerospace, aeronautical similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years certification/process assurance experience in an aerospace OEM company environment or for an aerospace regulatory authority.
- Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Direct experience with airworthiness & certification assurance activites,
- Direct experience developing and delivering airworthiness & certification training, methods, tools and processes.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission.

The ideal candidate would have

- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment,
- Proficiency in development and delivery of airworthiness training, processes and tools,
- Representing the company externally with the regulatory authority/authorities,
- Experience in helping coordinate partner/supplier company support to the extension & execution of Heart’s DOA privileges (where necessary).
