Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
The Challenge
Sustainability is now one of the three pillars that make up the very life and soul of Volvo Cars, just as safety has been since the birth of the company. The promise to be climate neutral and a circular business by 2040 means that we need to step up the game and widen our scope.
The LCA analysis from XC40 BEV showed that we need to put more effort into Aluminium, Batteries, Steel & Iron, Electronics and Polymers, therefor are we now looking to strengthen our team with two Analysis Engineers within sustainable materials. We are looking for both you with several years of experience who gained a deep understanding of sustainable materials and you who might be a new graduate within a relevant field.
You will have a cohesive role, with the advantage to develop within a broad scope of sustainable materials and with the opportunity to make a real impact when contributing to the decreased environmental footprint of Volvo Cars.

Working close together with procurement & Global Sustainability Team (GST), you will develop traceability strategies for materials on Volvo Cars critical materials list. You will also work together with suppliers to find circular economy options for our critical materials.
To work with Material Risk assessment will be a big part of your work, including below:
• Develop methodology to compare and evaluate materials – risk assessment with regards to environmental risks and Ethical & Responsible Business
• Develop business cases for different categories of sustainable materials
• Support product streams in discussion regarding balancing issues - CO2 vs circularity
• Develop material criticality assessment for new materials & technologies
Competence is Important
As a foundation you need a degree within a relevant field, if you are applying for the more senior position, you will also need several years of experience within sustainable materials and previous experience from material selection in a big company. A willingness to learn about materials where you might be lacking knowledge will also be crucial.
Meritorious:
• Understanding of complex supply chains
• Understanding the influence recycled content has on material properties
• Experience from circular flow of metallic materials and waste management
• Experience in Life Cycle Assessment/Carbon Footprint
