Arbetsbeskrivning

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

What we offer

In our journey towards a sustainable future the complete vehicle weight plays an important role in reducing the energy losses to achieve the optimal travel range for our electrical cars. By optimizing technical solutions and balancing the possibility of reducing the total weight in favour of other attributes we at the Volvo Cars Weight team, work towards the best mix of robust solutions and reduced vehicle weight.

As a part of the Weight team, you will help optimizing components and systems to reduce the material needed but also challenge technical solutions and material choices to bring down the weight of the complete vehicle.

What you’ll do

As a analysis engineer you will work with developing new tools and methods to help the team keep track of and collecting existing weight data with as little manual work as possible. You will be responsible for the data handling for at least two different vehicle projects and play an active part in lowering the weight of the complete vehicle.

You will be part of a team and handle items from the team´s backlog. To receive the information for the vehicle projects you will work closely with development teams across the organisation and the project leaders at your department.

Areas of responsibilities:
* Perform analysis and optimize the vehicle content to reduce the weight without reducing the quality or safety of the car
* Share your findings with other development teams and support them implementing optimized solutions
* Taking part in new method development for weight optimization and management
* Taking part in benchmarking activities and conduct analyses
* Create attribute requirements and support other ART´s in understanding how to relate to the requirements and weight targets
* Keep contact with other ART´s to get information about construction changes that might affect the weight and compile weight data and report weight status and forecasts in assigned vehicle projects.

What you'll bring

You are a highly motivated, creative, and curious person who is willing to embrace challenges and can operate in a frequently changing environment. You are self-driven and able to take initiatives on your own. To handle large amount of data is one of your skills and you find an interest in digging into the details of that data. Experience from developing components in metal or plastic is meritorious as well as having experience from Teamcenter. You like presenting your findings on meetings and have no problem driving your tasks, even if there are a lot of obstacles on the way. You have a university degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience and your English is fluent (written and spoken).

To be a member of a team is your preferred way of working and you don’t hesitate to step in and help your colleagues in their tasks.
