The department Maintenance, Investments & Metrology provide metrology expertise, lending of instrumentation, design and service of development tools for testing departments. The group Measurement Tools Strategies & Support is a key player to initiate and lead the technical development within Measurement, we propose solutions as well as bring support to define needs connected to the future technical measurement plans of R&D. Here you will get the opportunity to establish and develop relationships with test engineers within almost all system areas of the vehicle as well as building an understanding of the technology within those areas.

As Analysis Engineer Complete Vehicle Data Analysis you will develop methods and tools to support analysis of the increasing amount of data and to contribute to the increased capability to transform data to knowledge. As the world around us has an increased focus on sustainability, and places greater demands on environmentally friendly products, we are facing one of our biggest challenges. In this role you will propose solutions as well as bring support to define needs connected to the future plans of Volvo Cars. You will be working closely with a Technical expert in the group.

Main responsibilities

* Develop and implement data analysis algorithms, methods, frameworks and tools
* Support engineers across multiple areas with choice of data analysis methods and tools
* Participate in external collaborations with authorities and universities

Required qualifications

* M.Sc Mathematics and Statistics or Computer Science and Engineering. A PhD in the previously mentioned fields is meritorious
* Operating system skills in both Windows and Linux environments
* Advanced programming skills in Python and Java programming languages
* Experience in development and deployment of statistical and machine learning methods
* Experience in scaling of data analysis methods to large volumes of data
* Programming experience in distributed / cluster environments. Experience in big data cluster environments such as Hadoop or Spark is meritorious
* Ability to implement the data analysis solutions as a service in a web environment
* Knowledge and skills in structured and unstructured database systems (SQL and NOSQL)
* Skills in working with unstructured data such as text, video and audio
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Previous experience working with scientific or engineering data is meritorious

* Rational thinking, analytical reasoning and problem solving skills
* Ability to work in a structured and organised way both individually and as a team
* Independent and self-driven
* Ability to communicate results to non-technical audience
* Abilities to understand and prioritise the data analysis tasks and identify new ways to source the data, keep the source code well documented and understandable to others
