Where you’ll belong
Volvo Car Group owns and operates Hällered Proving Ground. The site is located 15 km from Borås / 65 km from Gothenburg and is shared between Volvo Car Group and AB Volvo. Verification and validation at proving ground is an important part of Volvo Cars development process. Durability, comfort, performance, reliability and safety are qualities that are constantly tested in our tracks, in which we perform testing 24/7.
At Hällered Proving Ground we are performing objective verification and validation activities according to the customers’ requirements on a complete vehicle level. During the testing activities, we update, troubleshoots and collect data in the test vehicles. During the winter season, we support expeditions at tracks in southern Europe.
Are you familiar with electrical and software-related tasks of various forms in complete test vehicles and want to be part of a dedicated team of software technicians, mechanics, test drivers and analysis engineers, all working with complete vehicle testing? Then this is the place for you to prosper!
Your contribution
You will download software in test vehicles built in our facilities and update software in test vehicles ahead, during and after conducted test at Hällered test facilities. If problems occur in either hardware or software of our test cars, it is your responsibility to analyze. You will troubleshoot software parts, battery, electric motors, high voltage electrical systems and in some cases the whole vehicle propulsion systems both ICE and transmissions.
You will also contribute to the development of vehicle measurement systems (CAN, CAN-FD, Flexray, Ethernet etc.) and support cold and hot expeditions, press activities, etc. around the world. In this position, you will need to be prepared to travel for about 10-20 travel days per calendar year.
Competence is Important
We see that you are an educated industry electrician, or that you gained similar competence through practical experience working as a technician or trouble-shooter within automotive for example. Either way, you hold knowledge in high voltage systems, electrical safety and electrical architecture.
Further, we see that you have excellent computer skills, good communication skills, preferably in both Swedish and English (both written and spoken) and hold a driving license (B), if you, in addition, hold a forklift license or driving license (BE) it is desirable.
Previous experience from fault trace Ethernet or similar networks as well as from mechanic work is a plus, and so is knowledge of our products' software, nodes and other electrical related hardware.
Other desirable skills are competence in complete vehicle testing, mechanic work with diagnostic techniques focusing on electricity, or if you even are a certified Hybrid Technician! Knowledge of Canalyzer, Vida, DSA, Inca, KDP or PIE is also a plus.
Personality is Key
We are looking for you who want to be part of creating and developing our future technology. To thrive in this position, we believe you have a burning interest in the product and seek challenges in your daily work.
Through your creative, curious and analytical mindset, you find sustainable solutions and apply them to your work. Sharing experiences and knowledge with your team is a natural way of working for you. But you are also comfortable working independently, especially during travels to different workshops.
