What we offer
At the Volvo Cars Safety Centre, we create complex and advanced virtual models to ensure that our two attributes Safety and Durability are fulfilled.
Are you up for the challenge to contribute to increased use of new sustainable, light weight and recycled materials in our future cars? Then the role as Analysis Engineer Materials in the team Durability Trim Analysis is the place for you to prosper, we are the experts on virtual analysis of non-metallic materials.
What you will do
You will work with Material information management to provide Volvo Cars Safety Centre’s teams with high quality material data for polymer materials. In order to ensure this, you will form standardized process, secure knowledge and access of correct material data.
You will need to continuously keep up to date on new materials being implemented, plan material testing together with Volvo Cars’ Material Centre part of Sustainability Centre and create material data to be used in our CAE tools. This mean that you will be in continuous dialogue with engineering departments, Material Centre and CAE to build understanding cross company in order to secure that we have the correct prerequisites regarding material when we start our analyses.
Further, you will define and contribute in the development of requirements, guidelines and other knowledge building activities, review and update robustness requirements of recycled materials on existing load cases. Last but not least you will perform carry-back-calculations to support change of materials of existing components.
Competence is important
We see that you have a M.Sc. in Engineering preferable in Material Science, in addition you will need a couple of years of experience from creating material data cards for polymeric material and working with methods for polymeric materials. You also possess skills in calculations and scripting, preferably in Python.
In order for you to succeed we see that it is important that you understand how we use the data, therefore knowledge in CAE and FE-simulations tools as Abaqus, LS Dyna, Nastran, Ansa, Metapost etc. is desirable

You thrive in a fast pacing environment, are self-driven and delivery focused. You are well organized and at the same time creative, you find flexible solutions so that you get through in a complex set up. You enjoy working in collaboration with different people, have excellent communication skills and the ability to build the extensive network that you will need.
