What We Offer
Volvo Cars and the rest of the automotive industry is facing a big and exciting challenge regarding the focus shift from conventional vehicles to electrification, digitalization and automation. To meet a future, we must find a way to effectively analyze and evaluate our cars’ energy efficiency. Volvo Cars has decided to be one of the leaders within the field of Energy Efficiency. To approach this, we need to develop methods and tools, and analyze data to make quick adjustments.

Are you willing to support development teams in vehicle simulations and understanding energy flows and losses, functional performance, investigate innovative ideas and alike? Are you accustomed to virtual verification, analyzing big data sets and drawing valid conclusions? Then the role as Analysis Engineer in our group Vehicle Energy Efficiency is the place for you to prosper! You will belong to the department of Sustainability Centre and be part of a highly focused Data analytic and competent agile scrum team, working both strategically and operationally in our car programs.

What You’ll Do
You will take part in the data-driven transformation at Volvo Cars. One of the main responsibilities will be to forecast energy efficiency and range based on simulation and test data. You will perform complete vehicle simulations using our internal Matlab/Simulink based simulation tool VSIM. With this tool you will run complete vehicle simulations to capture the energy flows and losses and evaluate vehicle energy efficiency.

You will analyze time-series consumer data, and visualize and communicate the results to stakeholders within and outside of vehicle energy efficiency. Another important responsibility will be to monitor and analyze physical tests from pre-certification and certification, and to help set official data prior to certification. The work will also include continuous improvement of methods and ways of working related to the analysis of data. All above mentioned tasks involve collaboration between several teams within Vehicle Energy Efficiency.

You and Your Skills
We see that you have at least a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Data Engineering, Systems Control and Mechatronics, Physics or similar. You are proficient in both programming and data analytics and comfortable using Python and Matlab/Simulink . You have experience in analyzing, structuring, implementing, and storing large data sets, to which you have applied statistical methods.

Prior documented working experience within the automotive domain and with interest or knowledge of virtual verification is beneficial.

We see you as driven, motivated, creative and curious, willing to embrace challenges and can operate in a continuously changing environment. You enjoy collaboration, but you are also able to take initiatives on your own. You see the general picture and logical patterns, but you are also able to go into a detailed analysis of subjects.
