AstraZeneca R&D, Gothenburg, Sweden seek to recruit an Associate Principal Scientist to the Physical & Analytical Chemistry team, responsible for NMR spectroscopy at the department of Medicinal Chemistry in Early Respiratory and Immunology (R&I).

Medicinal Chemistry in R&I is focused on the delivery of Small Molecules (SM) and New Modalities such as PROTACs, peptides and oligonucleotides (NM) in the early drug discovery portfolio. The Physical and Analytical Chemistry team is crucial for achieving this - working with a strong research focus in close collaboration with scientists from other departments.
What you'll do
We are looking for an NMR expert with a strong passion for analytical research. The candidate is expected to support drug discovery projects by applying structural and physical chemistry approaches to characterize bioactive small molecules. The candidate would engage and collaborate across therapeutic areas and other functions with a problem-solving attitude and delivery focus.
Depending on the level of expertise and professional experience of the candidate, this position could be at the career level of a Senior Research Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist.

Support the early drug discovery portfolio with applied NMR spectroscopy

Work in a lab based role, including setting up experiments and full interpretation of NMR-data

Driving internal science in the field of NMR Spectroscopy and Analytical Chemistry

Effectively collaborate with team members and colleagues in Medicinal and Computational Chemistry
*
Contribute to internal and external scientific reputation through publications and presentations
Essential for the role
*
Expertise in characterization of synthetic compounds by solution NMR including structural elucidation by 2D NMR
*
PhD in Chemistry with focus on NMR Spectroscopy or equivalent documented expertise in relevant NMR spectroscopy techniques
*
Strong scientific track record
*
Strong scientific curiosity in novel technology and methods
*
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
