Animator (Temporary cover)

Viaplay Studios Animation is a part of the NENT Group family that is home to one of the world’s fastest growing streaming companies, Viaplay. By end of 2023 Viaplay will be active in 16 markets including the UK, US, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It’s Viaplay Studios Animation’s purpose to support this growth by producing the best Nordic animated stories using the latest technology within real-time and performance capture.

Viaplay Studios Animation is now searching for a senior 3D animator to either join the team short-term until September 2022 or until April 2023.

The position
We are now looking for a talented animator to work with keyframe animation for quadrupeds and enhancing recorded motion capture data for humanoids. For this you need a deep understanding of both 3D animation and storytelling to take every shot to the next level. There is also an opportunity available to lead the animation work in the pre-production and production phase for an upcoming project.

You will work closely with the animation team, layout team and the inhouse director to make sure we are doing everything we can to enhance the visual storytelling. In this position you will also get the unique opportunity to interact with the whole inhouse animation pipeline, from editor to VFX artists.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate has experience with character animation and a passion for story. A bonus is experience and interest in leading animation within pre-production & production and a technical understanding of how the pipeline can be made more efficient.

The ideal candidate also meets the following requirements:

- Experienced in using Maya
- Skills in animating both human and creature characters
- A strong driving force to produce animations of the highest quality and maintain our high-quality standards
- Good communication skills and experience from working in a team environment
- Knowledge of the wider animation production pipeline


Bonus requirements that will make you stand out from the rest:

- Experience with Motion-Capture data, both in polish and enhancement
- Leadership experience
- Prop rigging
- Knowledge of the wider animation process
- Experience from facial character animation for both realistic and stylized
