Application Engineer

This implies responsibility to: - Be specialist in products and technology: performance, design, material, durability, reliability, environment, manufacturability, vehicle and/or engine knowledge etc. - Have a good knowledge in quality, economics and planning. - Manage the design / development / validation of product and system standards to respect customer specifications, supplier demands and Valeo internal requirements. - Create the necessary technical documentation for each component and module in the projects (Expert CAD models, BOM, specifications.). - Proactively participate in technical meetings within VEC and with the involved suppliers, customers and strategic partners. - Ensure respect of existing standards and specifications in the design work. In the case of those standards or specifications cannot be applied, the P1 product engineer makes sure to get an approved deviation approval on standards according to the existing procedures, and to propose updates to existing standards. - Develop and design products in agreement with VPS requirements. - Manage, participate or perform calculations/simulations (thermal performance, FEA, CFD...), functional analysis, DFMEA, value analysis, DFA/DFM, DOE, product appraisals, tests requests/planning, prototyping, test reports (to be approved by N+1 manager before distribution), design modifications and other technical documents part of the project work. - Be responsible for prototypes / mock-ups to be evaluated and approved before delivery to a customer, being it an actual customer or a test center. - Take part to the definition of standard VRFs for standard purchased parts. - Participate actively in reaching the objectives for the R&D departments. - Participate in continuously improving the project and department procedures.
