At Northvolt, we don’t only produce innovative, ‘green’ battery cells made from recycled and ethically sourced raw materials. We also develop and produce cutting edge, cloud-connected battery systems. Do you want to be an expert on how these systems work, and help to integrate and support them in the field?
You will be part of a dedicated Embedded Software Support & Integration team in our Stockholm office where your primary role is to help our production, aftermarket teams, and our customers, with system related issues and do on-site integration of new systems.
You will work closely with our development engineers and learn the system inside out. On a typical working day, you are the main interface between production, aftermarket, customers and our software developers.
Typical tasks can include, but are not limited to:
The primary role of an Application Engineer is to be part of the software development, test and implementation of new features for the client’s current software.
Application Engineer must also possess hardware knowledge and understand technical specifications of a broad range of software to address customer concerns.
Assist with the higher-level calls from Production and Aftermarket, handling of more complex software issues to ensure that quality troubleshooting services are delivered to clients in a timely manner.
In some cases need of supporting customer onsite, which involves occasionally travelling inside or outside Sweden.
Feed back experience from customers and production to our software developers and system designers on how to improve our systems within all areas. The key person for customer-facing in order to extract information from customers to feedback project scope and design/re-design solutions. Cross function with different teams inside the company.



At Northvolt Systems we make full battery system solutions, at present time for industrial applications and for stationary storage solutions, but the application areas are expected to grow. The electronics, control systems, software and mechanics are mainly developed inhouse. Our battery systems are also connected by Wi-Fi or LTE to enable remote diagnosis and data collection.
We have many upcoming projects within our areas which is expanding our scope. Both the integration and customer support activities are expected to increase rapidly during the coming year.
Skills & Requirements
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or relevant years of experience from a similar role as the one described above
You are curious in how things work and eager to learn more
You like interacting with customers and don’t feel stressed trying to solve problems under a tight deadline, sometimes with people watching
You like troubleshooting and fixing problems
You feel comfortable in troubleshooting low voltage electronics like finding wrongly pinned or connected cable harnesses, broken PCB:s etc. and replace them if needed
You have relevant hands-on engineering or development experience
You can read schematics and understand systems designs
You can use PC-based tools for reading out diagnostic trouble codes, uploading software and configuring control units and doing CAN network recordings to find functional issues
You are able to read coding C/C++ and Python



Additional interesting merits:
Experience with debugging and analyzing network traffic, CoAP protocol, Ethernet based communication, Modbus, Wireshark or similar tools
Experience with analyzing big data and SQL knowledge
Experience of battery management systems and/or charging systems
Experience working with high voltage systems (100-1000V)
