Vattenfall IT is now looking for a talented and open minded colleague that want to rockstart his/hers IT career by fill the position as an Application Engineer for Vattenfall Business Area Wind.
Our ambition is to become fossil free within one generation and the strategic importance of our Wind product lines (on-shore, off-shore and PV/Battery) are rapidly increasing. Do you want to work directly together with Wind unit to make this happen? We are in the start of this journey from IT side, and we need you to help us taking the next steps from IT perspective!
Within Vattenfall IT we are expanding our support team within the Wind area. A team that delivers IT solutions to our fast growing Wind business and accelerates Vattenfall’s digital transformation strategy. Here you are responsible for the delivery of Wind specific solutions running in our Azure Cloud setup. These solutions have a broad range and may vary from expert software products used by Windfarm engineers, to vessel guidance and monitoring systems for our offshore Windfarms, the setup of data products within the Wind data lake to support data analytics, etc.
As an Application Engineer you will be the bridge between the Wind department, and our IT deliveries. With your holistic view on IT, and your pragmatic mentality and knowledge, you are able to shift from one day designing the optimal solution, to optimizing or creating processes and the next day to train key users. As you will start in a new area, which is to be build up, you like diversity in your daily activities and you are willing to take on the tasks at hand.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Your stack will, amongst others, consist of Azure related services. As Wind Data Engineer you will work closely with our business partners but also with colleagues from other IT departments. Who are eager to gain insight in our customers’ demands.
• Analyse functional requirements for the business unit, investigate and propose potential solutions
• Support and maintain applications, analyse and solves incidents and problems, support key users
• Configure the application and the environment so that the system design is durable and meets the business requirements
• Work closely with the Wind business unit directly and in project teams
• Carry out and document tests (unit, system, regression and integration tests), support in acceptance testing
• Follow developments in the Wind/IT sector, identify potential improvements in functionalities, performance and processes.
• Lead sub projects
We are looking for:
A candidate who take ownership of applications across the IT- and Business domain, together with the key-user community. A curious and analytic as a person who have the drive to deliver, continuously improve, think out-of-the box and find the right communication style to their varied internal and external stakeholders. We expect the candidate to demonstrate a flexible attitude in the fast changing energy generation landscape.
• University degree within IT or comparable education.
• You find IT and the energy sector interesting.
• You are open minded and maybe already have some experience but would like to learn more.
• You enjoy working in teams and are comfortable working in an international team
• Business fluent English (writing/speaking) is required. Other local language within Vattenfall is meritorious; German, Dutch, Polish and/or Swedish.
