Our Exciting Opportunity
The BB Analytics section within DNEW NSV is a 4G and 5G RAN system design organization with responsibility, among other things, for driving the end user application performance know-how, with focus on the RAN contribution. It is also the accountable line for the Smartphone Lab Program.
We are looking for persons with proven domain knowledge in end user applications, traffic characteristics and live network performance, that is passionate about analyzing data and get the facts. Understanding the RAN performance as perceived by the end user, and how the end user application traffic impact RAN features and vice versa is the core challenge of this position. To develop the right products and solutions, Ericsson needs to follow and understand the characteristics evolution of the device and end user application traffic, as well as the impact it has on existing products and solutions. This is valid independently of RAN technology but could be expected to be further emphasized with new application types or deployment cases that come into play with 5G.
You will work within the Smartphone Lab program which support Ericsson business by providing insight in end user experience and network performance, that support customer engagement, sales and product development decisions. We provide expertise in how end user application traffic interacts with cellular network functionality. We gain these insights by analyzing data from the world’s most heavily loaded networks, through own lab tests and via licensed data from other sources. We seek facts using data driven insights!
What is the need for speed and latency supporting current and future 5G services? How should the internal RBS algorithms be designed to secure a good service performance. Join us and find out!
Add reference to traffic characteristics. Traffic characteristics, user experience and network performance
Experience in end user application traffic characteristics and how it interacts with cellular functionality
We are looking for candidates with competence and experience in radio network development, radio resource management and user-plane as well as traffic characteristics and network performance analysis
We are looking for candidates with an understanding of cellular radio networks, both on a macro level and the details on how different characteristics of it interact with the user application data flow. Furthermore, it is of importance to be able analyze network performance with an understanding of traffic characteristics.
You will
You will be working in an interdisciplinary team that focuses on understanding all aspects of e2e user experience and traffic characteristics based on facts and data. Depending on your profile you will contribute to the team in the field of radio resource management and user plane or network data analysis including characteristics. You will analyze cellular radio networks, both on a macro level and the details on how different characteristics of it interact with the user application data flow. Every task is new and require development of data processing and innovation of ways to visualize and present data and findings. For the tasks we use network data, third party licensed data or by defining own experiments in the lab to get detailed data on specific use cases.
You will support R&D, development units, customers and Customer Units with your application traffic and characteristics expertise and insights.
To achieve that you will collaborate with different organizations with expertise in different functional areas. With your e2e perspective, it will be necessary that you interact with different Business Units and organizations across Ericsson as well as with other industry players outside Ericsson.
To be successful in the role you must have
Have a MSc or PhD
Proven technical leadership and drive
Proven collaborative capability
Have at least 5 years of experience from RAN Product Development of Mobile System or Terminal products. In particular, Radio Resource Management (RRM) algorithm development of Radio Access Network products (3G-5G) or similar is emphasized.
Have a good understanding of mobile system e2e, with focus on RAN L2-L3 as well as NAS protocols and mechanisms, and with particular depth in Radio Resource Management (RRM) mechanisms and algorithms.
Have proven programming skills, e.g. Python, data analysis and visualization.
In addition, we value if you have worked with any of the following:
Have proven domain knowledge in the RAN Userplane area including flow / congestion control, IP transport and application protocols, i.e. HTTP/IP/TCP/QUIC/BBI
Network traffic characteristics and statistical analysis
Have proven domain knowledge in end user application and device behavior, such as Android and iOS and corresponding Apps and service as well as Data Engineering
Data Analysis methods, including techniques based on Machine Learning
Information visualization
Agile way of working methods
