Games – An industry with history

Games and the gaming industry have been around since the seventies when pioneers such as Magnavox and Atari began an amazing journey, today this journey has taken us to a point where games are seen as culture and a big part of many people’s lives. Gaming consoles, computers, games and accessories deserve to be recognized as cultural history and given the proper attention.

To Embracer Group the love for games and the history of games is tremendous. Therefore, in the summer of 2021 Embracer Group created Embracer Games Archive. The Archive is a unique place were games, the culture and history of games is preserved. The collection is constantly growing and today it holds a considerable number of items. The position
Today the Embracer Games Archive consists of five people who all share the same passion, the love for games and they are passionate about preserving its history. They hold expert knowledge about games, gaming, and the people and stories behind them.

The archive holds 50,000 items which are sorted and placed in the archive shelves. The next step is to catalogue all items in the archive, and therefore we need a new colleague, a skilled archive assistant.

The role as archive assistant is important in the work of long term preservation of games and gaming history. Your main task will be to list and catalogue the collection in the database (Axiell Collections). The archive is constantly growing, so a part of your work also consists of packing up incoming deliveries of new items. It could be a complete collection, or perhaps your old favourite console or and old memorabilia from your childhood.

For the right person, this is really a chance to work in wonderland.

Who are you?
We believe that you are thorough and well structured in your work. The interest in games is deep rooted with in you, and you are most likely a gamer yourself, and love the history of games.

We envision that you like to sit down with the colleagues over a cup of coffee and discuss gaming memories and experiences. Feel free to share your best gaming memories in your application.

Apart from your interest in games, we believe you have experience from:

• Systematic cataloguing.
• Practical experience from administration and documentation.
• Knowledge in archiving. Either from studies or acquired from work.
• Working in an archive, museum or in a library.
• Good English in both verbal and writing. Knowledge in Japanese is meritorious.
