Do you want to help develop the next generation of Futuregames’ super talented game art students? Right now, we’re now looking for a new Head of Education for our Game Artist program to join the school this autumn!
Who we are?
Futuregames is not just the leading games school in Sweden but has twice been named by The Rookies as the second-best games school in the world. The school offers educations at four different locations in Sweden: Stockholm, Skellefteå, Karlstad and Boden, and we are soon opening in Nordreisa in Norway and Dunedin in New Zealand. For almost 20 years, the school has on worked on three key areas, game art, game design and game programming and today 11% of the Swedish gaming industry are our former students!
What we are looking for?
The Head of Education will lead the two-year Game Artist program preparing our students to enter the professional games industry. As part of a team of teachers and coordinators based in Stockholm you will be expected to take care of a broad range of educational needs, from recruiting industry teachers and helping students to find relevant internships, to working on games projects where students work together across all disciplines to make games. There’s some level of administration in the role and the successful candidate must be prepared to take on key educational responsibilities for a government approved education such as student applications, grading, evaluation, student contact and mentoring. All teaching and communication takes place in English and we welcome applications from anywhere in the world. More than anything else, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about the future of games and how we can prepare talented young game developers for the industry both in Sweden and abroad.
Who you are?
You need to have hands-on experience of having worked with game art for a professional games development company. We also want you to have an established network within the games industry and a good understanding of current trends in games development. As Head of Education for our Game Artist program, you will be
continuously mentoring students in areas that might include 3D-modelling, asset development, texturing, lighting, character and environment art, and animation. Experience in level design and programming for game mechanics is a real plus. Teaching experience is also important, particularly if this has been at an executive or advanced level.
