Arbetsbeskrivning
About the role:
Our team in Malmö is preparing for their next project: a 3D game in a stylized art style, and we are looking for an Art Director to join them on their journey! As the art team will be on the smaller side, this will be a hands-on kind of position where you will still have time to be involved in creating your own art. You will also be responsible for creating the artistic vision for the game and working closely with the rest of the art team to ensure they reach the expected artistic quality and keep it within the established art style. You will be working with our producer, director, and leads to ensure that the art direction fits the overall project goals.
This is a full-time position working from our Malmö office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for the artistic vision of the game.
- Owning the Art Bible documentation and ensuring that it is always up to date.
- Provide direction and feedback to the team to further the artistic vision.
- Regularly reviewing the visual quality of the produced work and supporting and guiding the team to achieve the visual target of the game.
- Provide clear written and illustrated guidelines that communicate art vision to internal and external teams.
Who are you?:
We believe you have worked in game production for several years and are skilled in concept and/or illustration art to succeed in this role. If you also have basic 3D knowledge and understanding, that is a big bonus for us but certainly not a requirement. Since you will be creating our art bible for the project, experience in that type of work is highly valued, as is a mindset of cooperation and a calm and collected spirit that isn't rattled by shifting priorities. We have an international team so being comfortable communicating in English is a must.
What do we offer?
- Collective Agreement - Tekniktjänsteavtalet (+ union club) - Pension plan (tjänstepension)
- Paid overtime
- Flexible work hours
- Yearly wellness grant (friskvårdsbidrag)
- Occupational Health Care
- Two hours per week for wellness activities
About the company:
Thunderful is a relatively new company but with old roots. It was formed by several small indie companies coming together to make something more significant than they could have done independently. Over the last few years, Thunderful has grown into four different offices, with roughly 120 people making games in team sizes between 15 and 35 people.
The teams within have developed the award-winning SteamWorld series, known for its frequent genre-hopping and inclusive design, and more recent AA games like The Gunk, Lost in Random, and other un-announced but equally charming titles.
About the Malmö Office
Thunderful have come to Malmö to stay! We are looking for talented, friendly, and highly creative people with all kinds of backgrounds & perspectives to build the best games possible - and have a blast while doing so! We will keep the good parts of a smaller studio while expanding.
The Office is located at the wonderful Devhub, an environment filled with game companies & indie developers. And outside the building, you'll find more pubs and restaurants per capita than anywhere else in Sweden. So finding a good lunch is easy as pie.
