Role Overview
As an Art Director in the Creative Art team, you are responsible for leading the art direction for Campaign and marketing initiatives for our cross ocean Minecraft Franchise studios with support of our art department.
You set the artistic vision for our brand in marketing and campaign assets, while overlooking and ensuring consistency in collaborations cross studios together with other Art Directors, designers and partner agencies, with support from our Creative Director. You generate ideas and set art direction based on Marketing briefs as well as formulate creative art briefs and direct partner agencies and designers within our studio.
The Art director needs to be able to clearly communicate and maintain the studios’ artistic vision across art disciplines, working with marketing initiatives and align it with marketing's goals and ambitions. You work closely with the Team leads of the Creative Art team, the Marketing Managers in Redmond, our internal Brand Direction team, the Creative Communication’s team and partner agencies.
Key to this role is the ability to set the art direction, direct, inspire and motivate the artist(s) working on marketing and design for the Minecraft Franchise. In order to succeed, you will need to continually evolve as well as set and iterate the overarching art vision for the studios marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities

Generate ideas based on briefs and assignments from our cross ocean Marketing Team.
Ability to visualise concepts with craft and care, and able to deliver campaigns from concept to execution.
Highly organised and able to work with a broad team of experts, to manage multiple timelines and resources.
Define, develop, direct, and communicate overall art vision for the game marketing projects in alignment with the overarching art direction for the full studio.
Define the vision for the design team consisting of different disciplines and levels of experience
Ability to make a direct contribution to the creation of art visualisation through hands on examples
Actively accepts and provides direction to the design team and partner agencies.
Provides day to day artistic feedback and mentorship of individual contributors
Excellent communication, time-management and organisational skills
Task driven, self-motivated, proactive
Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities
A bridge between marketing managers and artists and serves as internal art critic, to achieve quality targets.
Supports in the evaluation, hiring, and assignment of talent for art disciplines for the marketing initiatives.
Provides clear written and illustrated guidelines that communicate art vision to both internal and external agencies.
Sets artistic vision and provides feedback and direction to further that vision
Proposes cohesive and holistic solutions to problems.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years previous industry experience as an art director or related role
Expert level of Experience in Photoshop
Experience in concept art
Experience working in a small team, large studios, as well as in virtual distributed teams
Experience in leading and directing other artists
