We see a rapid growth in intraday markets and in the need for flexibility services why we now need to strengthen our Nordic Dispatch team with a new talent.
Dispatch Nordic is a performance oriented department responsible for intraday optimisation and dispatch of Vattenfall’s Nordic production portfolio, including delivery of a vital share of ancillary- & balancing services to the Nordic TSOs. Thus we have a key role both in the Nordic power system and for the realisation of Vattenfall’s strategy to lead the road to a fossil freedom.
The role as Asset Planner / Analyst:
This is a hybrid role where you will mix operational work with more regular office work focused on analysis and development tasks. The first 6-12 months will be focused on getting to know our business through internal trainings and operational work at our Dispatch desk, and then you gradually will be introduced to our development activities. Vattenfall’s Dispatch desk is a central part of the Swedish power system, and working at the desk will give you a deep understanding about the fundamentals of the Nordic power market. Key knowledge which will be essential in the Analyst-role, where we expect you to be creative, take own initiatives and think outside the box.
The Dispatch desk is manned 24/7 using a 3-shift, being responsible for intraday-optimisation and dispatch of our Nordic assets, which includes task such as bidding and delivery of Ancillary services, Intraday trading, Algo operating and -monitoring.
When not working in the Dispatch centre you will be a part of cross functional teams working on improvements of methods, tools and processes where we are aiming for a high degree of automation and algorithmic decision support to meet the new market demands. Strong programming and analytical skills and especially a high interest for energy markets are sought for. The role demands that you have the ability to work in teams as well as individually. We expect you to have a personal drive and interest in creating high quality in all situations and the ability to see possibilities rather than difficulties in a complex environment.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Operational work as Dispatcher in the Nordic dispatch center (approximately 50%)
Support in continuous development of Vattenfall’s processes and systems for Hydro- & Intraday-optimisation (automation, bidding strategies, algos, ancillary services, SCADA, data management etc.)
Challenge established solutions and initiate new business improvements
Qualifications
We are looking for a person with:
Relevant University degree of quantitative/financial discipline (e.g. Engineering, IT, Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics or similar)
High interest in Energy markets
Programming and data analysis skills (preferably in Python)
Strong business sense
Flexibility and ability to keep many activities ongoing simultaneously
Fluent in Swedish and good skills in English
