Assistant, Consular & Visa Section

A full time vacancy has occurred within the Consular & Visa Section of the British Embassy for an Entry Clearance Assistant.

Summary
The Consular / Visa Section of the Embassy deals with public on a daily basis, making decisions on applications for visas to the U.K., and also dealing with British nationals living in, or visiting, Sweden.

We are looking for someone to become a member of a small, hardworking and efficient team. The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, excellent inter personal skills and some previous experience of working with the public and to tight deadlines. The ability to deal with high levels of stress whilst maintaining a good demeanour both with colleagues and customers is essential.

Previous experience of life in the U.K. would be advantageous. Experience of dealing with people from a range of backgrounds and cultures and an understanding of diversity and multiculturalism would be an asset.

The Job
As Entry Clearance Assistant you will provide direct support to the Entry Clearance Officer. The job involves dealing with the public, handling and processing visa applications, dealing with correspondence and telephone enquiries and general IT and administrative duties.

Skills and Experience

-Excellent attention to detail
-Excellent communication skills which will include good written and spoken English and Swedish and an open and friendly telephone manner;
-Excellent organisational skills, an ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines;
-Good IT skills (Office package)
-A "customer focused", service delivery approach to work;
-Ability to work independently on own initiative as well as being able to work with others.
