Assistant Principal / Biträdande Rektor 4-6

This is an exciting role for a high-potential Assistant Principal to join an excellent school in a growing company.

Internationella Engelska Skolan is a truly international school. We have staff and students from all over the world contributing to a dynamic international atmosphere. Our schools are bilingual with up to 50% of teaching in English and follow the Swedish national curriculum.

Internationella Engelska Skolan Tyresö is a school for grades 4-9 with 960 students and 100 staff. It is a school where every student is seen and where you will have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. 

The role

As an Assistant Principal of 4-6 you will play a central role in the school’s development, leading daily activities across grades 4 - 6. You will promote excellence in education ensuring a calm environment where teachers can teach and students learn. You will lead and develop the grade 4-6 teachers, Heads of Department, Heads of Year and Student Care team, working closely with the Principal and Assistant Principal of 7-9 as part of the school leadership team.

Who are you?

You are a visible role model with a strong presence in the daily life of the school. You have the ability to engage and inspire both students and staff. You are flexible and adaptable to change, whilst focusing on outcomes. You have teaching qualifications, leadership experience and a strong understanding of the IES vision.

-You should have experience implementing both preventative and behavioural practices and policies within schools, as well as experience collaborating with and leading Student Care and Student Health teams to ensure students’ best interests are being met. 

-You should have strong knowledge of state and municipal policy documents including the Swedish School Law and the Swedish curriculum (LGR11), Plan Against Abusive Treatment in Schools.

-As you will have a large role in the school’s Systematic Quality Work, you should have a genuine interest in educational development and its organization as well as implementation.

-As a member of the school’s Management Team you must also be a proven leader with great competence in recruiting, supporting, and developing staff within the school. 

-You should be an excellent communicator who shows a genuine care and interest in collaborating with, and coaching staff of different experiential and cultural backgrounds.

-You should be a firm believer that clarity in leadership, clear convictions, discipline, and a high degree of structure provide the basic conditions for focusing on education and achieving outstanding results.

-To be accepted for the position you will need relevant academic education and previous experience as a school leader. The ability to communicate in both Swedish and English is of high importance. 

In addition to being an able leader and manager you also need to be a flexible team player dealing with tasks that are challenging but at the same time rewarding. You should pride yourself on being a visible and approachable leader who works hard to be an active and positive participant in the school community.
