Assistant Principal/Biträdande rektor

Internationella Engelska Skolan Västerås is looking for a committed and professional leader to take on the position of Assistant Principal by August 2015.

The role of the Assistant Principal is primarily to ensure that the school complies with relevant laws and regulations and to keep the ethos of Internationella Engelska Skolan at the centre of the effective management of the school. This means creating and maintaining a safe and calm environment where teachers can teach and students learn. The Assistant Principal has the main responsibility of the daily running of the school.

In order to achieve the above the Assistant Principal will undertake the following:

General
- Meet as a management group twice per week to discuss school issues. Individual meetings may be regularly scheduled with the Principal.
- Coordinate and implement established routines for staff and students. To ensure that the flow of information complies with the approved diagram.
- Lead, observe, advise and assist staff. To be a resource and support for all staff in their everyday work.
- Cover and/or monitor substitution duties.
- Promote school integrity and identity.
- Chair a regularly scheduled meeting with respective teams, creating an agenda and store minutes for the meeting in liaison with their colleagues.
- Collaborate with the other Assistant Principal in the day-to-day running of the school.
- Assisting/Holding meetings with parents in order to support teachers
- Developing the teaching staff by integrating research and best practices.
- Working together with the Academic Coordinator and the Social Coordinator to make sure no students fall behind academically or soicailly.

The successful candidate will:
- Have experience in helping manage a school, preferably a free school with an international profile.
- Be fluent in Swedish, ideally native language, as well as fluent in English.
It would also be considered an advantage if the candidate had taken or was currently taking the Swedish Principals qualification (Rektorsutbildning)
