IN MUCOSAL IMMUNOBIOLOGY
TWO POSITIONS

The Mucosal Immunobiology and Vaccine Center (MIVAC) at Göteborg University is a strategic research center that has recently been granted 5 years' of financial support from the Strategic Research Foundation in Sweden.The overall aim of the center is to foster basic and applied science in the field of mucosal immunobiology and vaccine development.MIVAC represents an important initiative to bring together a critical mass of highly renowned research groups in one geographical location to expand Swedish international scientific excellence in the field.An important asset of MIVAC is the ability to take advances in pre-clinical research to clinical testing and commercial exploitation together with our group of collaborating industrial partners.The center has 19 research groups comprising 120 people at all academic levels with expertise in basic immunology, cell biology, protein chemistry, glycobiology, gastroenterology, microbiology and vaccinology.In line with our strategy for MIVAC, the "young investigator award program" will recruit 10-15 new members to the center.We are currently seeking two internationally experienced and independent researchers at the assistant professor level (forskarassistent).The program offers the successful candidates full time employment, one Ph D-student, and a budget for establishing/running their project for a period of 2+2 years.The successful applicants ideally work in an area relevant to ongoing MIVAC bridging projects: A. Immunobiology focused on adjuvant mechanisms, B. Developing tolerogenic vaccines against autoimmune and allergic diseases, C. Helicobacter pylori immunopathology and vaccines, D. Mucosal barrier functions and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
GROUNDS FOR ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must have a Ph.D.or equivalent academic degree, and priroity will be given to applicants who received their Ph.D.degree a maximum of five years before the final date for applications for the post.
GROUNDS FOR ASSESSMENT: Special emphasis will be placed on the applicants' scientific skills.
Applicants must have an accomplished record of innovative laboratory research and the clear ability to establish a vigorous, funded, independent research program within MIVAC.
