Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology in Umeå Assistant Professor in Experimental Plant Biology Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC; www.upsc.se ) is the centre for experimental plant biology in Umeå.It comprises the Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Department of Plant Physiology, Umeå University.Working within UPSC are approximately 180 people, including more than 30 group leaders, are working on research topics such as energy metabolism, abiotic and biotic stress responses, plant development, forest genetics, forest biotechnology, wood formation, tree physiology and ecophysiology.The centre is well equipped with special technical platforms for functional genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microscopy and a transgenic growth facility.The department has two centres of excellence, Func Fibre and The Berzelii Centre for Forest Biotechnology.(Sidotext) Research area The research area is in the area of experimental plant science, and can include research areas such as plant development, cell biology, metabolism, stress physiology and ecophysiology.Duties The candidate is expected to develop an independent research program and should complement the research streams within UPSC (www.upsc.se).The position involves limited amount of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.Eligibility: Applicant for the Assistant Professor position should have at least a PhD or equivalent in plant physiology, -biochemistry, -cell biology or molecular biology.Priority will be given to applicants who have been awarded their PhD degree at most five years before the last date of the application.The Assistant Professor position is full time and lasts for four years.Assement criteria: Special emphasis will be placed on the scientific excellence of the applicant and on the scientific merit of the research plan that must be included in the application.Experience in plant molecular/cell biology, plant biochemistry or plant physiology is desirable.SLU is an equal opportunity employer.Required documents to be submitted: The application should be written in English.The following documents should be included with each application: CV including a publication list, PhD diploma, copies of no more than five publications, a description of previous research and other activities of relevance for the position (maximum two pages), and a description of planned research that the applicant intends to carry out within this position (maximum two pages).Names and addresses of at least two persons able to provide references for the candidate should also be provided.Salaries are negotiated on an individual basis.
