Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Faculty of Natural Resources and Agriculture Department of Economy ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (forskarassistent) in Environmental and/or agricultural economics (miljö- och/eller jordbruksekonomi) Ref no 2341/08 The Department of Economics, SLU, Uppsala, has units for research and teaching in business administration, Economics and Agrarian History.In the Economics Unit we specialize on environmental and natural resource economics, and agricultural policy.For more information about our research, see http://WWW2.ekon.slu.se/rob/wwwresearch/ Research area: We are seeking an assistant professor in the areas of environmental and/or agricultural economics with an emphasis on policy evaluation, taking into account increasing interdependencies of national economics and ongoing changes in environmental and agricultural policies all over the world.Duties: The research assistant is expected to mainly carry out his or her own research.Some participation in the department's education at a basic and research educational level may occur. Eligibility: Applicants should have a PhD degree in economics or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate.Priority will be given to applicants who have been awarded their PhD degree at most five years before the last date for applications.Assessment criteria: Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific qualifications within the subject area.Experience in work on environmental and/or agricultural economics is a merit but not a prerequisite.Experience in work on research program combining empirical applications and recent developments in economic theory is a merit.The applicant should have proven skills in both oral and written scientific English.Required documents to be submitted: The application should be written in English.The following documents should be included with each application: CV including a publication list, PhD diploma, copies of no more than five publications, a description of previous research and other activities of relevance for the position (maximum two pages), and a description of planned research that the applicant intends to carry out within this position (maximum two pages).Names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of at least two referees should also be provided.The application and all enclosed documents should be submitted in triplicate.The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, renewable for a further two years.SLU is an equal opportunity employer.Salaries are negotiated on an individual basis.We welcome your application, marked with the reference number 2341/08 that should be sent to the Registry office, SLU, P O Box 7070, SE-750 07 Uppsala, Sweden, no later than September 15, 2008.
