The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.
Unit
The Unit of Biostatistics aims to contribute toward solving health problems and disseminating knowledge and culture of biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet and worldwide.
Research supervision, teaching, and presentations to statistical and non-statistical audiences are an essential part of its mission.
Duties
An Assistant Professor will carry out research and develop their independence as a researcher and educator in Biostatistics.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Assistant professor if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, and is able to demonstrate skills and experience in the fields of statistics/biostatistics.
The persons appointed should primarily be the ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than seven years before the end of the application period.
Bases of assessment
The base for assessment will be the scientific expertise and overall scientific quality in the field of biostatistics and in particular causal inference, surrogate evaluation and personalized medicine. Pedagogical experience and leadership qualities are merited.

An Assistant professor position is a fixed-term position. The first employment should be two years, with a possible extension of two years after evaluation.
