The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University.
We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. We collaborate with the surrounding society to develop new technology and spread knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. We have been awarded the accreditation "Engaged University" by the international organization ACEEU (Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities) and in three categories received the highest rating "Excellent". The department of Product development, production and design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for four educational programs at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.
The department of Product Development, Production and Design is looking for a resource with focus on research projects and teaching within the field of either Production simulation, Flexible production, Circularity in production, Automation or Industrial engineering. Applications will be handled on an ongoing basis.
Work assignments
The work will mainly include teaching and research. Teaching will take place on basic and advanced level in production at the department of Product development, production and design (PPD), foremost on the Production Engineering and Management program on master level. Typical topics/courses relevant for the teaching are courses within Production Development, Production Simulation (for example; Production Flow Simulation, Production Analysis or similar) as well as in advanced project courses on Master level focusing on the integration of production and product development, in collaboration with industry. Supervision of thesis work is also in focus. Work with course administration is also relevant for this position.
There may be opportunity as Program Manager on master or bachelor educational level for the relevant applicant. The research efforts will mainly be linked to research projects at the PPD department. Other research initiatives are set on the needs of the business, operations and the departments based on competence and qualification. You get to be involved in building and developing, for example, course content and contributing to the development of the research environment in line with our in:sure profile (Integrated Product and Production Development for Sustainability and Resilience). Research takes place mainly in collaboration with industry.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in Production Simulation, Flexible Production, Circularity in Production, Automation, Industrial engineering, Production Systems, Integrated Product and Production Development or the equivalent. You have knowledge and experience within your research field and you have a technical mindset or a will to try new ideas.
The department has a history of working in research projects, preferably with industry. Experience of teaching within production related courses or production simulation related courses (production flow simulation, production analysis or similar) is a requirement.
We expect applicants for this position to:
- have experience of supervision of thesis work on either bachelor or master level
- have at least one year of teaching experience in total, equal to a minimum of 1700 hours
- be interested in pedagogical activities and have completed training in higher education pedagogy or otherwise acquired corresponding knowledge
- have documented pedagogical skills and experience of teaching at university level
Jönköping University has a clear international character, which also requires good written and communicative ability in English.
Further competences that are considered meritorious are:
- online/digital education skills
- experience of course responsibility
- industrial experience and/or practical aspects (by means of handling production equipment) in general are a strong merit
- driving license for car (at least B-level in Sweden) is a merit to be able to carry out research together with industry and to be able to travel to our different campuses
- written and communicative skills in Swedish

Information
The position is a permanent employment of 100%, starting 1st of October 2023 or by agreement.
Annual working time for teachers according to the university's collective agreement. The University of Jönköping implements individual salary setting.
