The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. The department of Industrial product development, production and design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programs at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.



The department of Industrial Product Development, Production and Design is looking for an assistant professor in Machine design with focus on simulation and optimization.

Work assignments
The work will mainly include teaching, program management and research. Teaching will take place on basic and advanced level in machine design and product development at the department of Industrial product development, production and design (PPD). Teaching is also planned for in program courses in 3D-technology, machine elements and likely in courses for professionals.

Additionally, supervision and examination of thesis work is in focus. This position is connected to a role as program manager of the 3D-technology education program. Work with course administration is also relevant for this position.

The research efforts will mainly be linked to research projects at the PPD department. Other research initiatives are set on the needs of the business, operations and the departments based on competence and qualification. Research takes place mainly in collaboration with industry.

Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development or equivalent. You must be interested in pedagogical activities and have completed training in higher education pedagogy of at least 15 credits {ECTS/hp) or otherwise acquired corresponding knowledge. You should have documented pedagogical skills and experience of teaching at university level. It is also necessary to have online/digital education skills.

Experience of educational program responsibility is necessary. Experience of course responsibility is an advantage as well as experience of research in close collaboration with industry with a focus on mechanical engineering. The department has a history of working in projects in additive manufacturing, and skills in this topic are highly relevant.

Driving license for car (at least B-level in Sweden) is a requirement to be able to carry out research together with industry. Jönköping University has a clear international character, which also requires good written and communicative ability in English. Written and communicative skills in Swedish is considered a merit, especially for program management related work assignments.

Terms
The position is a permanent employment of 100%, starting 1 December 2021 or as agreed upon.
