Arbetsbeskrivning
At Chalmers University of Technology, our inspiring, world class research environments tackle pressing scientific and societal challenges. Through our strong collaborative tradition of combining expertise from different disciplines, we are especially equipped to contribute to complex needs of our society and a sustainable future.
We seek creative individuals to join Chalmers as tenure-track Assistant Professors and accelerate our quest for new knowledge and sustainability. You are invited to apply and propose your research ideas and to describe your plans to reach your goals and ambitions to make a difference. A four-year tenure track position is provided with a generous start-up package, relocation support, mentoring, and leadership training to further your development as an outstanding research leader. You will be employed by the department of your choice, while also finding collaborations and growing networks across departments and in the wider society.
We look for candidates that complement rather than duplicate our existing competences and that have an ambition to interact with our existing research groups. We value scientific depth and inventiveness, a collaborative spirit, societal engagement as well as leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Our aim is to actively improve the gender balance in our faculty. We therefore strongly encourage female applicants.

Information about Materials science
Materials science at Chalmers is a national strategic research environment anchored in a long tradition of outstanding research. The strength lies in the broad spectrum of research topics and projects which span the complete range from curiosity driven research to applications and devices. Moreover, our setup provides a readiness to take on new challenges faced by society and a basis for a close collaboration with industry, as is evident from our many research centers with strong industrial partnerships.
The research community is shaped by the vision “A sustainable society through excellence in materials science” and includes around 70 senior researchers with core activities at four departments (Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Industrial and Materials Science, Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Physics), and involves researchers from other departments as well as University of Gothenburg. We provide access to state-of-the-art instrumentation at Chalmers Materials Analysis Laboratory and the clean room facility and strong collaborations within national infrastructure networks. With our research, education, and innovation activities, we address societal challenges and include all the important elements of advanced materials research: theory and modelling, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation. Our three thematic areas are:
Materials for energy applications
Materials for health applications
Materials for green transitions
This includes but is not limited to, materials for sustainable energy systems such as solar energy, batteries, fuel cells and catalysis, antibacterial and antiviral materials, light-weight materials based on composites or superalloys, and materials from renewable feedstock.
