Arbetsbeskrivning
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Geosciences has approx. 100 employees that work in teaching, research and post-graduate education. The department conducts research in the fields of geophysics, chemistry, biochemistry and chemical process engineering, chemical technology, ore geology, mineral processing, process metallurgy and applied geology. Research is as well applied as fundamental and is financed by industry, foundations, research councils and the European Union.
Mineral processing is responsible for mechanical process technology and mineral processing education for the civilingenjör programmes in natural resources engineering and sustainable process engineering, and international master programmes as minerals & metallurgical engineering.
An important research topic in mineral processing is the analysis of mineral processes (comprising unit operations as comminution, physical particle separation processes, agglomeration etc.) by using process modeling and numerical simulation techniques. A current focus in this area is on model development and applications based on computational physics.
Description of the subject
Mineral processing with emphasis on process analysis by process modeling and numerical simulation based on computational physics.
Tasks
The responsibilities of the position comprise the development, planning and management of research in the subject described above. In particular the following tasks are assigned:
Model development based on computational physics for different types of unit operations in mineral processing
Planning, conducting and evaluation of experimental tests with particulate solids aiming on model verification and validation
Model application within the analysis and optimization of mineral processes
Supervision of doctoral students, post docs and researchers in the numerical parts of their research
The position also requires the ability to cooperate within the university and with national and international research environments, to work actively for external research funding, and to generally contribute to the division, department and university development. Teaching may not be more than 20 % of the time.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as an assistant professor, the applicant has to hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. Preferably those come into question who gained their doctoral degree not more than five years before the application deadline. The appointment of assistant professors shall pay particular attention to scientific skills.
Assessment criteria
With respect to scientific proficiency the following criteria apply:
Proof of doctoral degree in mineral processing, mechanical process engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
Documented scientific work
Other criteria
Experiences in acquiring research funding
If one gender is underrepresented, a candidate of the underrepresented gender will be given preference on principle, as long as the qualifications are equivalent (see assessment criteria).
APPLICATION
Scientific publications that the applicant wants to refer to should be attached to the application. The application with references and publications should be sent in two copies. If possible use the application template provided here: http://www.ltu.se/omltu/ledigajobb/d1922/1.8898?l=en
The application, written in English, should be sent in the form of two separate copies.
Deadline for application is 1th mars 2010.
