Arbetsbeskrivning
The world requires outstanding technical universities to address the multifaceted global challenges that we face today. Chalmers University of Technology is on an ambitious path to expand the frontiers of science and technology to meet those challenges.
As part of our ambitions, Chalmers seeks curious and creative individuals to join us as tenure-track Assistant Professors. We are looking for candidates with innovative research ideas who seek scientific freedom to pursue their aspirations.
A four-year tenure track position is provided with a generous start-up package, relocation support, mentoring, and leadership training to further your development as research leader and teacher. Through our cross-departmental Areas of Advance, you will have the opportunity to find collaborations and grow networks both within the university and with our industrial and societal partners.
You are invited to apply and share your research vision and plans to achieve your goals. At Chalmers, we are committed to improve diversity in our faculty, and encourage applications from individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and identities.
The applications will be reviewed during March – June, and interviews are planned for August – September 2024. Starting date is flexible but preferably not later than the first half of 2025.

Advancing nanoscience and nanotechnologies
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology harnesses physical, chemical, and biological properties and processes that occur at nanoscopic scales to, for example, develop better materials, devices and drugs that contribute to a sustainable society and improved human health. It is the vision of the Area of Advance Nano at Chalmers, which is a national strategic research environment, to combine research excellence at the fundamental level with application driven research challenges and engineering advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology to contribute to solving the grand societal challenges of our time and understanding of fundamental scientific concepts.
Our goal is to further strengthen Chalmers’ position as a leading Swedish university in the nanoscience field and to consolidate our reputation as a premiere “Nano Hub” in Europe. The 2DTech and Graphene Centers, the Competence Center for Catalysis, the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technologies, the industrial research center FoRmulaEx for RNA delivery, and the recently funded Center for Integrated Metaphotonics contribute to this goal. Our active collaboration with established Swedish industry and the Chalmers Ventures startup scene creates research utilization and entrepreneurial opportunities for our researchers, and our diverse teaching activities within numerous master and bachelor programs educate the experts and engineers needed for the practical implementation of the advances made in our field.
To advance cross-disciplinary nanoscience, the Area of Advance Nano funds, coordinates and communicates research on the unique chemical, biological, and physical phenomena that occur at the nanoscale, and fosters the development of technologies that reveal and utilize these phenomena. Our over 70 research leaders are primarily located at the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Physics, Microtechnology & Nanoscience, and Life Sciences, and they are supported by an excellent experimental and computational infrastructure that includes one of Europe’s largest clean room laboratories for advanced nanofabrication, state-of-the-art infrastructures for advanced materials characterization at the nanoscale and for mass spectrometry, as well as the Chalmers e-commons gateway to local, national, and international computational resources. Topically, our research efforts pertain to the diverse areas of Energy and Sustainability, Health, Information Technology, Nanomaterials, and Quantum Technologies.
You can read more about our research and research groups on the homepage of the Area of Advance Nano.
