The research group led by Dr.

Myriam Aouadi is seeking an Assistant professor with strong expertise in biomedical data science. The candidate will independently develop novel computational tools and analyze pipelines to investigate the contribution of macrophages in metabolic diseases.

Your mission
The research aims to investigate molecular regulators of liver and adipose tissue inflammation and function in the context of obesity and diabetes. The division is also involved in education, with respect to metabolic disease, biochemistry, immunology and biomedical data science.
The research projects aim to understand the transcriptional regulation of genes in liver macrophages in metabolic diseases and to understand the mechanisms for the links between obesity and metabolic and liver diseases. The studies are performed in human tissues, animal rodent models as well as in vitro in cell models.
The assistant professor will serve as project leader, responsible for coordination of the computational projects, and will actively apply for grants, write scientific manuscripts, and present the research results nationally and internationally. Supervision of PhD-students, postdoctoral fellows and technicians is also expected.

The employment as Assistant Professor is time limited to 4 years with the right to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer.

Eligibility requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Assistant professor if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The persons appointed should primarily be the ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than five years before the end of the application period.
Those who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence earlier may however be considered if special grounds exist. Special grounds refer to illness or parental leave.
The successful candidate should have also conducted postdoctoral studies and published peer-reviewed articles as a lead author in the field of computational biology and Diabetes. Strong expertise in computational biology, particularly analysis of single cell RNA sequencing data is required. It’s desirable if the applicant has previously conducted research in metabolism and immunology, has a structured and independent approach, accuracy and good analytical skills. The applicant should also have proven competence in analysis of gene and protein regulation/expression at the single cell level. Good knowledge of English, written and spoken, is a requirement.
