Information about Transport
Chalmers has a long tradition of outstanding research in the broad area of Transport. The vision of the research community Transport is a “Sustainable, safe, efficient and inclusive transport systems. We reach this by long term interdisciplinary collaboration between academia, industry and society”. The research community Transport involves about 240 senior researchers and is organized in three profiles: (1) Transport efficiency and customer adapted logistics, (2) Sustainable vehicle technology and (3) Traffic safety. Together these three profiles provide the base for research in the broad area of Transport that we believe is necessary to reach our vision.

Furthermore, to even more focus on current societal challenges we have identified three prioritized transport related challenges: (1) Increasing efficiency in transport and logistics, (2) Increasing transport safety, (3) Achieving a fossil-free transport system.

We now seek an assistant professor that can strengthen our vision by working with one of these challenges. Currently, we are especially focusing our research efforts in the following areas.

• The role of hydrogen in the transport system
• Horizontal collaboration as a mean for efficient and effective logistics and transport
• The interface between transport and urban development
• Safety in the value chain
• Active mobility

Major responsibilities
As an Assistant Professor, you will conduct and lead research, and develop into an independent principal investigator, in line with the intentions described in your application. Together with the rest of the faculty, you will contribute to teaching and developing our educational curriculum, to the academic culture, and participate in departmental and university-wide activities. You are expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and to apply for external funding to further accelerate your research. Position summary
The appointment as Assistant Professor is a four-year entry-level faculty position with tenure track, whereby you will acquire both pedagogical and research qualifications. The aim is to achieve the level of Associate Professor within four years and if successful you will be offered a permanent faculty position at Chalmers.

Qualifications for the position
You have:
• A doctoral degree in a relevant field, not older than 7 years prior to the application deadline of 31 January 2022.**
• Performed research that has resulted in publications and presentations in relevant and respected venues for your field.
• Shown your ability to create national and international networks within your subject area, for example through co-authored publications.
• Experience of applying for research funding.
• Post-doctoral experience or similar, preferably performed in an environment other than where you did your doctoral studies.
• Demonstrated your pedagogical interest and potential
• Worked towards creating a good internal working environment at your workplace.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
