Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.The university's researchers carry out excellence within several areas of research, and many of them are among the world's elite.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Assistant professor in Trophic interactions in lake ecosystems The Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning supports five strong research environments including 'Lake Ecosystem Response to Environmental Change' (LEREC).The program aims at the analysis of ecosystem function and response to environmental changes by the integration of recent conceptual progress in aquatic ecology into a unified ecosystem model.The research will address carbon and energy transfer, and include all trophic components and habitats in lakes.The LEREC program now announces a research position as Assistant professor to be located at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University.The holder of the position shall carry out research on Trophic interactions in lake ecosystems in collaboration with other members of the LEREC staff.Studies on mobilization and allocation of energy in aquatic food webs, influence of size structured dynamics on food web interactions, and couplings between benthic and pelagic habitats are examples of research themes within the LEREC program.The position is open for an outstanding scientist with a record of achievements demonstrated.The position is for two years, normally with a prolongation of another two years.The Faculty of Science and Technology encourages assistant professors to participate in undergraduate teaching up to 20% of their working time.Such teaching participation qualifies for an extension of the position up to five years.Teaching duties require excellent proficiency in either Swedish or English.The department encourages female applicants.To qualify for the position you should have a PhD degree or equivalent, preferably not more than five years old, and documented research experiences within the area of the position.The application can be submitted either electronically or in hard-copy form.Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, copies of degree certificates, a statement of previous research achievements and teaching merits, a publication list and reprints/copies of published work numbered according to this list, a research plan (maximum 4 pages) and a list of referees, all in two copies if the application is in hard copy form.Note, in order to be considered, applications must include copies of reprints.
