We hope that you will help us to build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.The applied geophysics research group is part of the Division of Geoscience and Environmental Technology at the Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources. The department consists of approximately 35 employees including researchers and teachers.
The position as assistant senior lecturer is at the Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources, where Luleå University of Technology is conducting research in geoscience, geoengineering, mining and metallurgy, as well as civil engineering technology. Teaching in applied geophysics takes place within the framework of the Swedish School of Mines at Luleå University of Technology. The department has well-developed collaborations with research institutes, industrial partners, universities and other authorities in both research projects and student projects. The environment at the department is open, dynamic and brings together researchers from around twenty different nationalities as well as doctoral students and students from all over the world.
Duties
Applied geophysics covers a wide range of geophysical methods and the assistant senior lecturer is expected to have the ability, interest and willingness to contribute with teaching in relevant methods. Collaboration with teachers in other geoscience disciplines is an integral part of the duties. Research-based teaching is seen as important to maintain high quality and to be in line with new developments in applied geophysics. Therefore, the assistant lecturer is expected to participate actively in research projects.
The tasks means that you will:
• Be responsible for developing, teaching and examining courses in applied geophysics. Supervise students and follow the subject's international development
• Work with research tasks (e.g. applying for external research funding, leading and collaborating in research projects, communicating and disseminating research results via academic publications)
• Networking and collaboration with actors nationally and internationally.
• Be active in the research community within your own subject
Qualifications
Qualified for an appointment as associate senior lecturer are those who have been awarded a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific qualifications.
In the first instance, those considered for employment should have completed a doctoral degree no more than five years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier. By special reasons means leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical service of trust, or similar circumstances.

Scientific and teaching expertise are weighted equally in the evaluation. Demonstrated ability to communicate research is considered a merit. In case of different interpretations of the English and Swedish versions of this announcement, the Swedish version takes precedence.
Period of employment
For this employment, an employment period of four years applies.
Promotion to senior lecturer
An assistant senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and a position until further notice. If the applicant is qualified for a position as senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such a position, is determined in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below:
In the examination, it is required that the associate senior lecturer has completed higher education pedagogical education corresponding to 7.5 credits or has acquired corresponding knowledge in another way.
During the employment period, the associate senior lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
