At the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business, we conduct research and education in business administration, industrial engineering and management, resource recovery, and building technology, as well as within the textile field: design, management, and technology.  The Faculty’s departments are the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. There is also a department for the Textiles Labs.  The Swedish School of Textiles, as well as the two research centres, the Centre for Sustainable Society Development and the Swedish Institute for Innovative Retailing/The Retail Lab, are other important elements within the Faculty. The Faculty is also the home to two doctoral education programmes: Resource Recovery and Textiles and Fashion.

A focus on non-woven and recycled fibres
The Department of Textile Technology at the Swedish School of Textiles is now seeking an Assistant Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology with a focus on non-woven and recycled fibres, in order to develop and conduct research and teaching in the field of textile technology. The research group for advanced textile structures, led by Professor Nawar Kadi, focuses on non-woven fibres as well as the biological and mechanical fractionation of recycled fibre. In recent years, the research group has grown significantly and has established an advanced research environment focused on fibres, yarn, yarn structures, textile structures, as well as the mechanical recycling of textiles. The focus is on natural fibres and biodegradable polymer fibres. Teaching, course coordination, and examination will mainly be within freestanding courses and the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in textile technology, but there will be some teaching in doctoral courses within the doctoral education programme Textiles and Fashion.

Job description

The position includes teaching at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, course development, and research and supervision at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Participation in spinning/non-woven lab development is another work task. Work tasks also include applying for research funding, serving as an assistant supervisor for doctoral students, and conducting research, as well as publishing in international scientific journals.

Qualifications

The position as Assistant Senior Lecturer requires a doctoral degree earned no longer than five years ago in textile technology, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or another applicable field. You need to have very good knowledge of textile fibre technology, the extraction of bast fibre, non-wovens, and the separation and mechanical fractionation of recycled fibres. In addition, you need to have knowledge of finishing and surface treatment of non-woven fabrics as well as knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). We are seeking applicants who also have experience of teaching about the production of non-woven fabrics. Furthermore, you should be able to communicate well in written and spoken English.

These tasks require that you as a person have good collaboration skills, a structured way of working, the ability to take initiative, and can prioritise among tasks.

Merits for the position are:


• Research experience and publications in addition to the doctoral degree.
• Experience regarding applications for research funding, as well as participation in major research projects.
• A proven international and national network as well as contacts with universities and research centres.
• Experience in online teaching.
• Good reading comprehension in Swedish.

Type of employment: Fixed-term employment for four years, with the possibility to be promoted to a permanent position as Senior Lecturer if the eligibility requirements are met.
