The School of Engineering has two departments within IT, with a total of about 40 employees.
The Department of Computer Science and Informatics (CSI), provides academic programmes in subjects ranging from software engineering and embedded systems to user experience design and cyber security, and is also conducting research in associated areas. Our education programmes are developed in close collaboration with the surrounding industry and have a yearly intake of about 300 students. To further support interdisciplinary research, the department maintains a close relationship with its sister department: the Department of Computing, which includes the Jönköping AI Lab (JAIL). IT is an expanding area at School of Engineering, and we are hiring several assistant and associate professors.
Education in cyber security is primarily conducted within the bachelor program Networking, Infrastructure and Cyber Security (NICS). Our goal is to establish a research group within applied cyber security conducting research together with the surrounding society.

For this position, we are looking for an Associate or Assistant Professor in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security to join our team.
Job description
In the employment as an assistant/associate professor, you will perform teaching and research with a focus on cyber security in a broad sense. Depending on the applicant’s background, the teaching may be centred around cyber security (e.g., cyber security operations, network security, ICS/OT security, incident response, software security etc.), information security (e.g., risk management, information security management systems, etc.) but also networking and infrastructure (e.g. computer networking, system administration, cloud computing etc.)
You are expected to build and maintain an academic and industrial network, actively apply for research funding, and play a key role in establishing and conducting research projects. You will keep yourself updated on your research area and the industrial and societal development of relevance for our department and keep our courses and programmes up to date. You are also expected to collaborate with other departments and schools at Jönköping University.
Qualifications
You should have a PhD in a relevant area and pedagogical merits according to the Appointments Procedure at Jönköping University. The candidate should also have documented skills in teaching in English. You should also have a track record in attracting research funding. You need to have experience in teaching in at least two of the following areas: Information Security, Cyber Security, Network Security, IoT Security, Industrial Cyber Security, Software Security, Web Security, Computer Networking, System Administration, or similar subjects.
You should be development and quality-oriented, responsible, and pedagogically skilled. It is also advantageous if you perform well in an interdisciplinary environment.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Ability to teach in Swedish
- Industrial experience
- Experience from research in cooperation with industry
The ability to teach in other areas relevant to the department (Web Development, Object-Oriented Development, Electronics, Embedded Systems etc.)

Information
The position is a permanent employment of 100%, starting 1st of January 2023 or by agreement. Collective agreements and individual wage apply.
